Playfulness is important in keeping romance alive!
This week I read the results of research from Pennsylvania State University about what characteristics women and men find attractive in a potential mate.
Researches gave a group of subjects a list of 19 characteristics and asked them to rank them: 1 the most desirable to 19 the least desirable characteristic in a potential mate.
Women selected “sense of humor”, “fun loving” and “playful” as the second, third and fourth most attractive characteristics.
Why would women be attracted to someone who is playful?
Researcher Garry Chick stated, “playfulness in a male may signal to females he is nonaggressive and less likely to harm them.”
The attractiveness of these characteristics does not fade over time.
Ask any woman. Chances are quite high whether she’s 19 or 91, single or has been married for 75 years, she finds playfulness in a man attractive.
Men also find this quality attractive in women. According to Willard F. Harley, Jr. in his book, “His Needs, Her Needs” the number two need for men in a relationship is a partner to play with.
No matter where you are in life, I hope you haven’t lost your playfulness.
Have “tickle fights” from time-to-time . . . fly kites on a breezy afternoon . . . enjoy a teeter-totter in a park . . . spray each other while washing the car.
If you haven’t played in a while, surprise your sweetheart this weekend and play.
After all, playfulness may be nature’s way of helping romance blossom, bloom and continue growing.
How would you be playful with your sweetheart?
